Cardlink was established in 1988 as an industry utility for a consortium of financial institutions to provide secure, cost effective, non-competitive transaction processing services. Since then Cardlink has grown and now provides industry wide and customer specific services which involve the development of innovative technologies.
Founded initially for the card processing industry (Bankcard), Cardlink is continually looking for new services that add value to our stakeholders business and fit within the utility model. Some notable milestones include:
1974: Charge Card Services to establish Bankcard and full processing service 1987: Change of purpose and renamed Cardlink to process non-EFTPOS transactions at lowest possible cost 1997: BPAY brand and entity launched (extension into non-card processing services) 2004: Evolution to collaboration model for card and non-card sectors for utility & value-added processes 2005: Cardlink took over management of the VIPRO Voucher Processing Venture on behalf of three major Banks.
Today, Cardlink is Australia's leading provider of credit card authorisations and electronic bill payments (BPAY), processing millions of transactions every week. Cardlink partners with Financial Institutions to provide industry wide or custom-designed solutions to solve transaction logistics, either as a whole or part of an existing service chain.
